Is It Safe to Go Down Water Slides While Pregnant

I have a friend who went on water slides while pregnant, just a few she told me (but she was showing already and she said people gave her dirty looks), but I really think it doesn't seem safe.

I asked my dr if water slides were ok since she said no six flags for me and she said that I only can get on the lazy river :(. btw everything its fine with my pregnancy. So Im just gonna stay home :(

No, waterslides aren't safe.

That being said, my friend went on a bunch of waterslides when she was in her third trimester. And the really hardcore slides at that! Her daughter was perfectly fine. Although, she was colicky and had infant acid reflux, which her mother claims was due to the waterslides...

I don't think I would risk it, but it's your decision!

We went to a waterpark today and I just did the lazy river and sat in the kiddie pool area with dd. Wish I could have done the slides, but figured better safe than sorry.

I hv the same worry. :( My bf wanted me to get on the waterslide @ the pool but I was too afraid of what could happen. So "What happens if you do decide to go on a waterslide?" I'm 21wks.

At the local water park, ALL the slides carry a sign that says no pregnant women. I've always been told that they aren't safe, and logic tells me it must be true, because even in slow and gentle slides, things sometimes happen. Someone too fast behind you, flipping over from back to belly, etc etc. Seeing the topics on the board from ladies who had to go to L&D for pre-term labor after injury to the belly area, I'd say don't risk it.

Every sign at the water park I went to (including lazy river) said no pregnant women. I went on a huge water slide with a huge drop and then you go up the wall of the funnel at the end really fast!! It was so scary and awesome. But I chose that waterslid seem safe to me, no jerking around or upside down nor things pushing on my stomach. It was the funnel of fear at Michigan's adventure. I only did one slide and the lazy river though. I didn't have time to ask my doc and just went with what was okay to me. Its a 3-4 person slide and I went on with my DF and my friend and before us my DFs brother and his pregnant DF went on with his friend, she is only 6 days ahead of me. She thought it would be ok too. If you choose to don't go overboard though.

near me there is a indoor water park called splash lagoon don't know if you have one there or not but i called and asked what there regulations were with pregnant women riding the water slides and they said that under five months they let you ride the slides after that only in the pool but there water slides aren't really steep or anything like that but they are alot of fun !

im told by my dr its not safe to do anything that sends a rush of water in or near your vag

I worked at a water park and now manage an indoor water park at a hotel and we won't let a pregnant woman go on the water slides. If you go too fast, the slide can throw you all over the place. I feel like if it is just the simple flume slide that you can sit up in and control your speed is. Safe. But then not all women would follow the sit up rule. We used to let parents take small children down on their laps but some wouldn't follow directions and would lay down and the toddler would go flying! Very scary for those watching so we had to stop allowing it. Sorry for the long story :) just giving you an idea. If they allow you on that type of slide you could go but use caution! Otherwise next summer isn't going to take too long to get here!
